Subcutaneous chips to go on sale in Georgia next year

Subcutaneous chips will become available in Georgia next March.

According to Report's local bureau, the microchips will be sold in the stores of iPlus, Apple's official sales company in Georgia.

Subcutaneous chips manufactured by BioHax International combine several functions. An implant the size of a grain of rice attached to the skin of the thumb of the right or left hand can replace a passport, credit card, as well as car or house keys.

The first batch of about 50,000 chips will be delivered to Georgia in early January 2022. The cost of retail sales and service of chips programmed on the RFID system will be made public in the second half of next year.

Nearly 30,000 people worldwide use the BioHax chips.
