Stocks of Apple & Samsung equipment in Russia to last for 2-3 months

Stocks of equipment from Apple, Samsung and other companies that have limited supplies to Russia will last for 2-3 months, Report informs citing RBC.

At the end of 2021, Samsung ranked first in smartphone sales in Russia (32.1%), Xiaomi with the sub-brand Poco (29.1%) was second, Apple was third (15.2%).

Apple stores are already running out of stock for the iPhone 11 and 12, with demand skyrocketing after currency fluctuations and higher prices for newer models in the smartphone lineup.

To solve the problem, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade is considering the possibility of allowing parallel imports (importation of goods into the country without the permission of the right holders). Technically, there is no such prohibition in Russian legislation, but the government wants to protect Russian suppliers from possible sanctions from manufacturers.

There are problems with the supply of products from companies that did not restrict imports to Russia. This is due to a disruption in the supply chain, as well as a sharp increase in the dollar rate after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine. According to The Financial Times, shipments of Chinese smartphones from Xiaomi, OPPO and Huawei have been at least halved since February 24.
