Shahin Mustafayev: Tatarstan - one of Azerbaijan’s 10 main trade partners

President of Russia’s Tatarstan Republic Rustam Minnikhanov has taken part in the Azerbaijan-Tatarstan business forum as part of his visit to Baku, Report informs referring to the press service of the president of Tatarstan.

The meeting brought together representatives of large industrial enterprises, as well as businesses of the two sides.

“There is a significant potential for expanding cooperation between our republics in the field of supplies of products from the oil and engineering industries of Tatarstan, development of ties in the investment and innovation-production spheres, in the field of high technologies, shipbuilding and automotive industry, healthcare, the production of medical products and pharmaceuticals, cooperation of trade - industrial chambers,” Rustam Minnikhanov said, addressing the forum participants.

He also thanked the leadership of Azerbaijan for their personal involvement in strengthening cooperation.

In turn, Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev noted that Tatarstan confidently holds a leading position among economic partners. “Thanks to the political will of the leaders of our countries, relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are of a strategic nature and cover all areas of activity. Interregional relations are a priority for us. Tatarstan is one of the ten main trading partners. We expect that by the end of this year our trade turnover will increase significantly,” said the deputy prime minister of Azerbaijan.

At the end of the forum, a number of agreements were signed in the presence of leaders. The first document was signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Azerbaijan Small and Medium Business Development Agency. Also, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tatarstan signed an agreement with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Azerbaijan.
