Shahin Baghirov: Changing customs legislation is aimed at development of business environment

The amendment to the Customs Code and the law ‘On Customs Tariff’ is aimed at the development of the business environment, Shahin Bagirov, the first Deputy Chairman and acting chairman of the State Customs Committee, said at the meeting of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Committee for Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, Report informs.

“Issuing customs valuation notices is an important step. Sometimes, intentionally or unintentionally, the customs duty is set high. We will fix this problem by giving notice. Customs should be more of a control body than budget revenues to prevent illegal transportation to our country,” he noted.

In addition, according to the customs official, customs expertise has been conducted electronically in Azerbaijan for several months: “The review of goods sent for examination will be online. There will be no need to review the same products when they arrive again. It will reduce the duration of the customs procedure.”
