Palestinian official: Artificial intelligence should be used in halal industry

Artificial intelligence should be used for the certification and standardization process in the halal industry, Omar Isbaitan, Director of the Information and Communication Technologies Department at the Palestine Standard Institute, said at the Halal Business and Tourism Forum (AZHAB Forum) held in Baku, Report informs.

Isbaitan stated that artificial intelligence is a system that can make decisions on its own and has human-like behaviors: "At the same time, it can answer many questions better than humans. First of all, we can use artificial intelligence in the certification process. This will significantly reduce certification time and make certificate approval faster. Another issue is the traceability of raw materials. This can be done very efficiently through artificial intelligence. It is possible to get instant and detailed information about where the raw materials come from, what procedures are used during their extraction, processing, and transportation."

Recalling that Islamic countries have a common culture, Isbaitan said that the concept of halal varies slightly depending on the country: "In this case, by using artificial intelligence and large multilingual models, we can overcome the language barrier. It will be possible to obtain information about standards in all languages. This will make it possible to bring all practices together."

In conclusion, he stated that new technologies, including artificial intelligence, can also be used in production, distribution, and all links of the value chain.
