Pakistan eyes expanding trade relations with Azerbaijan, implement projects in Karabakh

Pakistan wants to export mangoes, rice and other fruits and vegetables to Azerbaijan, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Muhammad Shakeel Munir told Report.

“We are interested in exporting mangoes to Azerbaijan. At the same time, Pakistan can supply a number of fruits and vegetables to Azerbaijan,” Munir said.

He also stressed that his country intends to increase rice exports to Azerbaijan: “Now Pakistani rice is exported to the Azerbaijani market. But we can send more.”

He emphasized that more than 50 companies from Pakistan came to the business forum held in Baku: “I think this forum is a good experience for bilateral cooperation. We want our economic relations to develop further. We see great potential for the Azerbaijani market.”

Munir said that during the meetings, the implementation of joint projects in the field of tourism was discussed: "Direct flights are operated between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. This will contribute to the development of tourism relations. The construction sector was discussed at the meetings held in Azerbaijan. The Pakistani companies intend to participate in construction projects here"

He stressed that Pakistani companies want to implement projects in the liberated Azerbaijani territories.

The number of Pakistani companies in Azerbaijan is 2,238. Pakistan has invested $4.2 million in Azerbaijan's non-oil export.

The trade turnover between the two countries in January-May 2022 amounted to $12,889,000, 2.7-times higher than a year earlier.
