The opening of a road bridge across the Samur River on the border between Azerbaijan and Russia is vital for the development of cooperation between the two countries, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin said at the opening ceremony of the bridge.
According to Report, the minister stressed the unique role of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia in this project: "This project has a long history, it was not that easy. From year to year, this issue was discussed at the intergovernmental commission and did not advance, and we saw the problems that exist here, we saw the lines that formed due to the undeveloped infrastructure. And so, when Ilham Aliyev visited Sochi last September, the final agreements were reached, all issues were resolved, and now, more than a year later, this work is finalized."
Oreshkin thanked everyone who was involved in the construction of the automobile bridge across the Samur River.
"This is an important story for our two states and for the people who live here. We see that relations between our countries are strengthening," he added.
According to the Minister of Economic Development, the growth of the trade between Russia and Azerbaijan is one of the highest among all countries trading with Russia:
"The growth reached 25% this year, with all the problems of the world economy, we have almost no such indicators with other countries."
Oreshkin emphasized that the volume of tourist flow with Azerbaijan is also actively growing, and this trend will continue.
