Murat Yaman: Trade turnover between Turkic states does not reflect current potential

Trade turnover among Turkic states does not fully reflect the existing potential, Murat Yaman, the chief trade advisor of the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan, said at the Second Turkic States Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum and Exhibition held in Baku, Report informs.

According to Yaman, the Turkic states have a strategic geographical position:

"We have very important surface and underground resources on a global scale. We have a Turkic Union of States, which has a gross domestic product of approximately $1.6 trillion and a trade turnover of nearly $1.5 trillion, and is located on world trade routes. However, the current trade turnover does not fully reflect the potential. For this reason, within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States and similar associations, the Turkic states should develop political, economic, cultural and trade relations among themselves, increase mutual trade and investments."

He believes that such platforms and events will significantly benefit the expansion of trade relations between the Turkic states.
