Maimunah Mohd Sharif: ‘I was impressed by the post-pandemic development process in Azerbaijan’

The event on the World Habitat Day held in Baku is a platform for solving the problems of climate change and urbanization in the world, the Executive Director of the UN-HABITAT program, Maimunah Mohd Shari told journalists, Report informs.

According to her, today's event is a platform for sharing best practices: "Within this forum, we discuss challenges in the field of urban development and urbanization."

Sharif noted that despite the end of the coronavirus pandemic, its influence still remains: "Besides, there is the issue of global climate change in the world. July was one of the hottest months."

She said that she was impressed by the post-pandemic development process in Azerbaijan: "I especially thank Azerbaijan for hosting the ‘Second Urbanization Week 2023’ forum. In this regard, various resolutions are reached within the framework of World Habitat Day. The main goal is that actions carried out in every country, every city have a positive effect on people".

Sharif emphasized that every year on October 2, "Urban Planning Week" is held around the world. The next such event will be held in Cairo in 2024.
