Halal certificates given to Azerbaijani products to be recognized worldwide

Halal certificates issued to Azerbaijani products will be recognized worldwide, said Ilham Bayramov, Director General of the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization (AZSTANDART), at the Halal Business and Tourism Forum (AZHAB Forum) held in Baku, Report informs.

"One of Azerbaijan's goals is to organize the export of halal products. There is great potential for this in Azerbaijan. There are large producers in the country, especially in meat and dairy production. At the same time, there is a strong global market for these products. Halal products are in demand not only in Muslim countries. According to statistics, the demand for halal products is increasing in non-Muslim countries, especially in Japan and Germany.

Azerbaijan should increase its share in this market. To ensure this, we needed to obtain international-level accreditation. The accreditation of the AZSTANDART Halal Certification Body of the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization by the Turkish Halal Accreditation Agency will allow the certification of products that can be exported from Azerbaijan. This certificate, in turn, will be recognized in global markets. However, halal standards have their own requirements. For example, if we're talking about meat products, to produce a real halal product, the feeding of animals, ensuring their health, slaughter, and subsequent processes should be properly regulated. We plan to organize training for local production enterprises and entrepreneurship subjects in this direction," Bayramov noted.
