Embassy: 'Azerbaijan has great potential for exports to China'

There is still great potential for Azerbaijan's exports to China, and this requires more communication and mutual understanding between enterprises of the two countries, Ma Chi, economic and commercial counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan, said, Report informs.

"Azerbaijan's exports to China amounted to $240 million in the first ten months of 2022 (+20% from a year earlier), while this figure was $210 million last year. Some 95% of Azerbaijan's imports to China were petrochemical products. The rest of the imports made up leather ($1.9 million), drink and wine ($340,000), cacao and other products ($320,000), etc.," the counsellor said.

He noted that almost all kinds of products can find a market in China, but the featured products can get the attention of consumers faster. For most Chinese consumers, Azerbaijan is a new and mysterious country, and they are very willing to try products from Azerbaijan : "This helps to significantly lower the entry threshold of Azerbaijani products into the Chinese market initially. Therefore, friends of Azerbaijani companies should consciously highlight Azerbaijani brands and characteristics in product packaging and promotion, tap the unique geographical, historical and cultural significance, and increase the added value of products. We welcome more Azerbaijani companies to actively participate in various exhibitions held in China to gain a deeper understanding of China's market demand. To encourage and support imports, China has been holding the China International Import Expo since 2018, which is the world's first national exhibition with the theme of imports. At the fifth session of the fair, held in November this year, more than 2,800 companies from 145 countries, regions and international organizations participated, including both 284 of the world's top 500 companies and some from the least developed countries.
