Ambassador of Netherlands notes great potential for economic cooperation with Azerbaijan

There is great potential for economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Netherlands, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Azerbaijan Pauline Eizema told Report.

According to Eizema, six Dutch companies are also represented at the Azerbaijan International Agriculture (Caspian Agro) and 30th Anniversary Azerbaijan International Food Industry (InterFood Azerbaijan) exhibitions currently being held in Baku: "We are very proud to be here. Companies representing our country operate mainly in the vegetable growing (horticulture) sector. But we also have one company specializing in seed production and one specializing in the supply of pedigree livestock, which is also very important. There is no information about the signing of specific contracts yet, but the companies are actively negotiating with customers and we hope that this will lead to closer cooperation in the future. We are constantly in touch with companies that want to operate here and we are glad that today we have brought six companies to Azerbaijan to explore the market."

The ambassador added that currently, about 40 Dutch companies operate in the agricultural sector in Azerbaijan: "We also have companies working in other areas - water management, logistics, maritime affairs and port expansion. For example, there is a Dutch company engaged in logistics and port construction at the Baku Port located in Alat. We also have companies in the lighting sector. Dutch companies are represented in almost all areas."

According to her, in the discussions with Dutch companies, their interest in Azerbaijan is felt: "This interest increased even more during the preparation for the COP29 event. Last year, a delegation of Dutch companies specializing in water management visited Azerbaijan. Water management is an area in which we are very strong, and a lot of work is being done in this area in Azerbaijan. In addition, there are great opportunities for cooperation in the field of renewable energy, especially offshore wind energy."
