Ambassador of Netherlands: Azerbaijan enters new era in water management

Azerbaijan is entering a new era in water management, Pauline Eizema, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Azerbaijan, said at the 4th Caspian Water Innovation Forum, Report informs.

“Water will also be an important topic during the UN Climate Conference, COP29, which will be hosted by Azerbaijan in November. In this context, the Dutch water envoy visited Azerbaijan in July. The Netherlands’ relationship with water is known worldwide. It is a connection forged throughout history and generations bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience,” the ambassador stated.

Eizema noted that Azerbaijan is a country of remarkable natural beauty, rich natural resources, culture, and resilient people. “Like many other countries, it faces serious challenges in managing its water resources. The Netherlands, with its centuries of experience in water management, has faced similar challenges. Our country has learned to not only live with water but to thrive by harnessing it. This journey has been long, shaped by the need to protect our land from the sea, while ensuring our rivers and lakes can provide water for agriculture, industry, and communities.”

“It is this history that has led Dutch companies to develop some of the most innovative solutions in the world—solutions we are eager to share with Azerbaijan. One of the panels of the Forum will be dedicated to Dutch expertise, where Dutch water organizations will present themselves to you,” she added.
