The certification of companies that will provide halal products for COP29 is currently underway, said Ilham Bayramov, Director General of the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization (AZSTANDART), at the Halal Business and Tourism Forum (AZHAB Forum) held in Baku, Report informs.
"Participants from many Islamic countries will visit Azerbaijan ahead of COP29. The International Organization for Standardization will have a large pavilion at COP29. We are participating in this process as a key local partner. Providing halal products and services to incoming guests is one of the main issues we face in the near future. We have already started activities in this direction," he noted.
Bayramov stated that work is underway with companies that will provide halal products for COP29, and their products are being certified.
"Together with the COP29 Operating Company, we are monitoring large public catering facilities that will provide services in the country on the eve of this event. During the evaluation, attention will be mainly paid to ensuring the environmental sustainability of these facilities. At the same time, the provision of proper halal services is also included in the evaluation criteria," added the head of AZSTANDART.
