As many as 343 projects were submitted by women to the Azerbaijan Women's Entrepreneurship Development Association to engage in business activities in Karabakh, Sakina Babayeva, Chairman of the Board of the Association, told Report.
According to Babayeva, these projects were presented to engage in business activities in Barda, Tartar, Aghdam, Hadrut, Fuzuli, Zangilan: "These projects are mainly related to the opening of tandoor (bakery) shops. There are also projects such as planting agricultural products in liberated areas.
We inform entrepreneurs that there are springs in the mentioned regions, and ethnic tourism and rural tourism can be practiced near them. We prepare models for such projects and present them to women."
Sakina Babayeva noted that women's entrepreneurship has expanded in Azerbaijan and they are very interested in business activities in the liberated territories: "Last year, a lot of work was done to promote women's entrepreneurship in the country. More than 4,000 women's business projects have been submitted to the Association so far. Those projects cover different regions of the country and various sectors. Interest in women's entrepreneurship is increasing as traditions are created. Especially, more applications are received from women who want to start entrepreneurship from Gadabay, Oghuz and Tovuz districts."
She added that currently, there are more requests to start a business in the field of healthcare and aesthetics: "At the same time, women's interest in marketing and online sales has increased. Also, the number of women who want to buy technological equipment and engage in the agricultural business is increasing. However, the lack of equipment, refrigerators and veterinarians creates obstacles to start a business in the agricultural sector. There are too many projects related to employment at home."
According to Babayeva, recommendations are given to them regarding increasing the role of women's entrepreneurship, especially in the service sector.
There are 1,168,000 entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan, and more than 250,000 of them are women.
