Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan to build second joint winemaking plant

The construction of a second joint wine production plant is planned in Uzbekistan, Shohabbos Sangilov, head of the foreign economic activity department of the agency for the development of viticulture and winemaking under the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, told Report.

"Together with Azerbaijan, we have very big plans, especially in the field of winemaking. Together with Azerbaijan, we have opened a plant in Uzbekistan, where we produce various wines under the Azerbaijani brand Tovuz and using raw materials from Uzbekistan. The Tovuz brand is very recognizable in the world, especially in European countries. Wine produced in Uzbekistan under this brand is supplied to Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. We want to build another joint wine production plant in Uzbekistan with a focus on the production of fruit wines such as cherry, quince and pomegranate," he said.

Shohabbos Sangilov also added that Uzbekistan would like to export to Azerbaijan wines of those grape varieties that are available only in Uzbekistan.
