Azerbaijan tightens control over flour, bread prices

The State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy has tightened control over flour and bread prices in Azerbaijan, Report informs.

Starting this year, business entities in the domestic market have adjusted the price of flour produced from imported food grains to the current price of food wheat on the world market:

"As a result, a change is observed in flour and traditional (round loaf) bread prices. In this regard, control measures have been strengthened. As part of preventive measures, meetings were held with grain importers, as well as flour and bread producers, and they were warned about the inadmissibility of abuse of the situation."

The State Service noted that in order to prevent unjustified changes in the price and weight of flour and traditional (round) bread and control the quality parameters, the consumer market is regularly monitored, necessary measures are taken to comply with antimonopoly legislation:

"Serious measures will be taken if the monitoring reveals violations."
