Demand for used cars in Azerbaijan increased in October 2021 compared to September 2021, Eldaniz Jafarov, a transport expert, said, commenting on the developments in the Azerbaijani car market in October, told Report.
The expert noted the revival in the market last month:
“There is a revival in the car market of Azerbaijan. This is due to the season. We have left the hot summer days behind. We are moving towards winter, and the demand for vehicles in urban areas is growing. Therefore, there is more demand in October compared to September. Prices also rose slightly compared to last month. This increase does not exceed 2%. Prices for new cars remain the same.”
According to Jafarov, there is a constant demand for new cars:
“Demand for new cars has not decreased. The stability of the national currency and the economy allow citizens to buy a new car. From about December 2021 to April 2022, the demand for new comfortable and safe cars will increase in Azerbaijan. It is because major automakers will reduce production slightly. However, sharp changes in prices are not expected until the end of this year. From the beginning of next year, prices may rise by another 2-3%. It is due to international processes such as increasing transportation prices and declining production.”
The expert also spoke about the import of hybrid cars to the country:
“It is gratifying that citizens are interested in hybrid cars. But sometimes they bring older, useless vehicles from the United States. It would be good if our citizens buy new, European-specific hybrid cars so that they can be repaired when there are problems. It is possible to repair European-specific hybrid cars in Azerbaijan today; official dealers do it. However, the repair of hybrid vehicles imported from the United States can sometimes be challenging.”
