Azerbaijan prevents smuggling of psychotropic substances from Georgia

Azerbaijani customs officers at the Red Bridge customs post detained a Volvo truck coming from Georgia, Report informs.

The driver of the truck was questioned if he was carrying any hidden or undeclared items in the truck. During the customs inspection, five packages with a psychotropic substance – methamphetamine - were found in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, in the driver's wallet, and on the front seat. The Justice Ministry’s forensic centre said that the weight of methamphetamine found in the truck totalled 6.708 grams.

Methamphetamine is included in the "list of psychotropic substances prohibited in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan." An investigation into the case is underway.
