Negotiations are underway to export Azerbaijani honey to the Persian Gulf countries, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Beekeepers Association Bahraddin Hasratov told Report.
He noted that the Azerbaijani honey is mainly exported to Arab countries, however, given the great potential in this area, export directions should be expanded.
Hasratov believes that in the future honey can take an important place in the non-oil export of Azerbaijan.
“For this, local honey needs to be promoted in foreign countries. State support is needed so that beekeepers can participate in international exhibitions,” he said.
The chairman of the association noted that ordinary honey and premium honey are sold abroad: “Ordinary honey is obtained mainly from plantations. Honey extracted from nature is considered more expensive and of higher quality. Azerbaijani honey is extracted from nature and therefore belongs to the premium category. For this reason, we can sell honey at an expensive price and attract foreign currency into the country.”
