Azerbaijan eyes expanding cooperation with Islamic Development Bank Group

Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev met with the newly elected President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Mohammed Sulaiman Al-Jasser, and his colleagues within the 46th Annual Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Report informs.

Wishing success to the President of the Bank, the Deputy Minister stressed that Azerbaijan attached special importance to relations with the IDB and other institutions belonging to this group and highly assessed the Bank's support for developing the private sector. Aliyev said that the liberation of historical and ancestral Azerbaijani lands created new realities and noted the opportunities for cooperation in the implementation of the concepts of "smart city" and "smart village" in Karabakh and the creation of a "green energy zone."

MS Al-Jasser shared his views on expanding relations with Azerbaijan and expressed interest in the Bank's participation in projects implemented in Azerbaijan.

The meeting focused on partnership opportunities with Azerbaijan Investment Company, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency, the establishment of a joint fund of the Karabakh Revival Fund and the Islamic Development Bank, and the restoration of liberated territories of Azerbaijan well as the implementation of joint projects. The sides exchanged views on the organization of events to present investment projects of Azerbaijani companies to potential investors in the countries, and other issues.
