Discussions are underway regarding on new environmental taxes in Azerbaijan, Samira Musayeva, Deputy Chief of the State Tax Service under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy, told journalists, Report informs.
Musayeva further mentioned that the application of taxes on carbon emissions is also a major topic of discussion: "As a country, we are working on and studying the application of pricing tools to achieve Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and reduce carbon emissions. We want to assure taxpayers that if any tax is applied, extensive analyses are being conducted to ensure it doesn't hinder business development. In other words, we are working on carbon emission taxation that won't affect the population's consumption costs, won't create a serious tax burden on micro-entrepreneurs, and won't limit the development of industry and entrepreneurship in general."
