Azerbaijan begins gold imports from 3 countries

Azerbaijan imported 15,868 kilograms of gold (HSN Code 710813), valued at $1.422 billion from 16 countries, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan began importing gold under this classification only in April of the previous year.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan’s top gold suppliers were:

- Russia: 3,475 kilograms worth $315.5 million (no supply a year ago);

- Australia: 2,829 kilograms worth $241.33 million (no supply a year ago);

- Mexico: 2,000 kilograms worth $174.71 million (no supply a year ago);

- China: 1,173 kilograms worth $108.21 million (no supply a year ago);

- The UK: 1,200 kilograms worth $106.21 million (no supply a year ago).

In 2025, Azerbaijan imported gold (HSN Code 710813) from Uzbekistan (397 kilograms worth $37.24 million), Hong Kong (159 kilograms worth $14.22 million) and Japan (37.9 kilograms worth $3.55 million) in 14 years, based on publicly available foreign trade statistics dating back to 2011.

Between 2020 and 2023, Azerbaijan imported a total of 1,724 kilograms of gold under the same HSN, valued at $98.3 million. However, in 2024 alone, gold imports surged dramatically to 41,078 kilograms, worth $3.313 billion.
