Azerbaijan International Mining Company (AIMC), a subsidiary of the British Anglo Asian Mining PLC (AAM – operator of gold deposits in Azerbaijan) has made a number of appointments to strengthen the senior management team, Report informs referring to AAM.
Dominic O'Hara has been appointed as Director of Mining. Dominic is an experienced Mining Engineer and Manager, having worked in open pit and underground copper and gold mining operations for over 15 years across three continents. Prior to joining AIMC, Dominic worked in the consulting sector, where he conducted a wide range of projects from operational efficiency initiatives to in-depth technical studies, and previously held senior roles with Glencore and AngloGold Ashanti. Dominic's deep industry knowledge and expertise make him an invaluable addition to the Company's senior management as it expands its operating asset portfolio.
With 13 years' experience in the mining industry, Sean Lapham joins as Geology Director having worked on projects from early-stage exploration through to feasibility studies, operating mines and a wide range of geological modelling and analysis. Sean has held senior geologist positions within SLR, Mining Plus, Lagata Private Equity and Glencore Copper, and is a Competent Person for copper, gold, cobalt and tin. In his role as Geology Director, Sean will oversee all geological aspects of the Company's mineral resources and mining geology operations as it continues to leverage its asset portfolio to drive growth.
Joining as the Company's new Senior Mining Engineer (Mine Planning), Sergey Reznik holds over 15 years of experience across open-pit and underground mining operations in North America, Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East. Specialising in mine planning, design and scheduling, Sergey has a strong track record of maximising production efficiency while upholding safety and economic standards. In his new role, Sergey will support active operations and an expanding project pipeline.
"The Company is also pleased to announce the appointments of Afgan Imamli and Fuad Sulkhayev as Mine Managers, who will be responsible for Demirli and Gedabek open pit mines and help reduce oversight from the Senior Management Team in day-to-day operations.
These appointments are critical to the Company executing its medium-term growth strategy of becoming a predominantly copper, multi-asset mid-tier producer, supporting the Executive team and increasing management bandwidth and expertise," reads the message.
Anglo Asian Mining is mining precious metals in the Gedabek and Gosha contract areas. The PSA was signed on August 21, 1997, and provided for the development of six deposits. The share of Azerbaijan, which is represented in the contract by AzerGold CJSC, is 51%, the share of AAM is 49%. The company holds the rights to develop eight contract areas in Azerbaijan.
