World's biggest painting sold for over $60 million

The world’s largest art canvas, The Journey of Humanity, made by Sacha Jafri has been sold for a whopping $62 million at an auction in Dubai, Report informs referring to Khaleej Times.

The painting was bought by Andre Abdoune, chief executive of Altius Gestion International Holding.

The British contemporary artist had been working on this back-breaking masterpiece at Atlantis, The Palm for most of last year and was hoping to cut the painting into 70 pieces and sell at six auctions in different countries over nine months.

The plan was to raise $30 million to support children and youth around the world affected by the COVID pandemic.

“We're hoping to save over 200 million children's lives, but also give these children a chance and opportunity to change the world around them. That is the goal. We want to provide education for all children of the world. We want to give the children from all over the world an opportunity of an education through the internet. So, we aim to provide the internet to every single one of the poorest communities of the world for the first time,” says Jafri.
