US main museums closed due to lack of funding

Baku. 2 January. REPORT.AZ / Main museums of the United States belonging to the complex of the Smithsonian Institute, as well as the Washington National Zoo were closed due to lack of funding, Report informs citing the TASS.

This was the result of the " shutdown",  the partial suspension of the Federal government.

In total, about 19 museums have been closed ,that most of them are located in the center of Washington. These include the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of American History and the National Art Gallery, where masterpieces of the world art are collected. Several other closed museums are located in New York.

Notably, several US federal agencies partially suspended their activity (entering the so-called 'shutdown' mode) on December 22 after the Congress failed to agree the new budget.

US President Donald Trump does not intend to sign the budget unless it includes $ 5 billion to fund the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico, while democrats are not ready to support the document envisaging such costs.

The US congress is expected to get back to the budget revision on January 3.

Ожидается, что конгресс США вернется к рассмотрению бюджета 3 января.
