Baku. 17 June. REPORT.AZ/ John G. Avildsen, who as the director of “Rocky” created pop culture touchstones by telling stories of down-and-out characters finding triumph, died on Friday in Los Angeles. He was 81.
Report informs citing the Associated Press, Anthony Avildsen, Mr. Avildsen’s son, said the cause of death was pancreatic cancer.
Notably, John Guilbert Avildsen directed "Rocky" in 1976, "Karate kid " in1984-1989. In 1977 Avildsen won "Oscar" award for "Rocky".
