Exhibition featuring Karabakh’s cultural heritage underway in Kyiv

The Taras Shevchenko National Museum of Ukraine has organized an exhibition of works by the carpet weaver, member of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan Eldar Hajiyev.

Report's Eastern European Bureau reports that the opening of the exhibition, organized by the Azerbaijani embassy in Ukraine, was attended by embassy officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps in Kyiv, government officials, public figures, and activists of the diaspora.

The main topic of the exhibition, which presents carpets and paintings, is connected with the history of the culture of Azerbaijan and the heritage of Karabakh. The main components of the exhibition are expositions with Karabakh horses.

Ukraine’s First Deputy Minister of Culture Rostyslav Karandieiev, who was present at the opening, noted that the presented works very clearly expressed national components, adding that it would be one of the most interesting exhibitions for the public of his country.

General Director of the Taras Shevchenko National Museum Dmitry Stus shared his impressions of visiting the Carpet Museum during his visit to Baku, noting that carpet weaving is not just the production of carpets, but a valuable tradition.

"The successes and victories of Azerbaijan are important for us. Success is not an easy task. Including in the field of art. First of all, we need to find out their secrets," he added.

Eldar Hajiyev told Report that along with paintings and carpets, 25 works were exhibited: "This exhibition was held with the special support of the Azerbaijani embassy in Ukraine, in particular, Ambassador Elmira Akhundova. This is especially important for us."

The exhibition, which will run until January, aroused great interest among Kyivans.
