Dies Italian actor who has played as "Signor Robinson"

Baku. 3 July. REPORT.AZ/ Famous Italian comedian, director and screenwriter Paolo Villaggio, who was hospitalized a few days ago, has died today in Rome at the age of 85. 

Report informs citing the RIA Novosti, this was reported by his daughter Elizabeth on Facebook. Villajo created a satirical image of the accountant-muff Ugo Fantozzi, who is constantly haunted by setbacks. After this comic character, the actor received a truly nationwide love in Italy and became known in many countries of the world. It is noteworthy that Villaggio himself invented this unlucky character by writing in the late 1960s several stories about him that were published in popular weekly magazines L'Espresso and L'Europeo.

As a result, he became the author of a dozen scenarios, over which popular comedic tapes were made, which brought him fame.

In addition to participating in the "epic" about the legendary Fantozzi, Villaggio played many other roles in film and television. He starred in such outstanding Italian filmmakers as Federico Fellini, Lina Wertmüller, Ermanno Olmi, Mario Monicelli and Gabriele Salvatores, and worked in the theater with Giorgio Strehler. Villaggio also starred in the comedy "Signor Robinson," which was screened in 1976 and had phenomenal rolling success in the Soviet Union.

In 1992, at 49th Venice International Film Festival Villaggio was awarded the "Golden Lion" for outstanding achievements in the development of cinematography.

Learning about the death of Villaggio, Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni noted in his Twitter microblogging "the exceptional comic talent" of the actor.
