Ukrainian Supreme Rada does not believe Armenian tears - COMMENT

February 26 is the 28th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide committed by Russia's 366th motorized infantry regiment and the Armenian terrorists of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. 613 people were killed as a result of the tragedy.

Several countries, including the Czech Republic, Scotland, Romania, Jordan, Pakistan, Sudan, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Guatemala, and 23 US states, have adopted acts recognizing the Khojaly genocide. The list is growing.

Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, one of Azerbaijan's closest allies, plans to discuss the recognition of the genocide against Azerbaijanis in Khojaly. The international community regards the persecution of Jews during the Second World War, or the atrocities committed against Muslim Bosnians in Srebrenica, Bosnia, and Herzegovina as genocides. In this aspect, the acceptance of the acts of brutality perpetrated by Armenian terrorists and Russian motorized infantry on the night of February 25-26, 1992, in Azerbaijan's Khojaly, as genocide constitutes historical justice.

This issue has some points irritating Armenia and world Armenians. They are trying to raise it in the legislative bodies of various countries. It was earlier reported that Ukraine's legislative body rejected the bill on the fictional "Armenian genocide" presented by Ukrainian MP Daria Volodina from the "Servant of the People" ruling party.

Ukrainian Rada's refusal to discuss the document titled "Commemoration of 'Armenian genocide' victims" was a fair decision.

It is not the first time Armenians and their lobbying circles attempted to include the so-called Armenian genocide to the agenda of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada. They did so in 2013, 2015 and 2019 as well.

Parliaments of the countries which respect history usually leave past events at the disposal of history. From this point of view, the Ukrainian parliament's refusal to discuss this issue is reasonable. But it would be better to review the problem differently. Modern history also confirms the destructive activities of Armenia and Armenians, proving their damage to democracy and security, as well as criminal acts. For example, the modern world knows the Armenian mafia in Germany. The German police have expressed their upright position regarding this criminal grouping by arresting its members. Moreover, Ukrainian law-enforcement officers have also confirmed the illegal activities of Armenians. Armenia's support for destructive forces in Syria, defending the groups impeding peace efforts, testifies to this.

Furthermore, Armenia and the world Armenians show disrespect to the territorial integrity of Ukraine. In November 2019, the Ukrainian embassy in Armenia shared a post on Facebook about the illegal visit of Armenian citizens to the Crimean peninsula. Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan stated at that time that the Armenian government would not restrict the free movement of its citizens. This showed Armenia's real attitude towards the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Besides, Yerevan has a daily flight to Simferopol, costing around $120. Perhaps, previously the Ukrainian Supreme Rada has taken a step to satisfy Armenians' wishes. But the parliament, political circles, and government understood the occupation of Azerbaijani territory and the Khojaly genocide in a period when a part of Ukraine's land had been annexed.

The Azerbaijani side has always brought this issue to the attention of the entire world community. The Khojaly genocide perpetrated by Armenian terrorists is a disgrace to the modern world. And by discussing this tragedy, Ukraine's Rada fulfills its responsibility.
