Russian 'peacekeepers' - patrons of terrorists and separatists in Karabakh

Russian peacekeepers are every day losing their right to stay on the territory of Azerbaijan because they do not fulfill the mission assigned to them and act contrary to their mandate, Report informs.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the movement of a convoy carrying illegal military cargo along the dirt road Khankandi-Khalfali-Turshsu was once again detected on March 24.

The movement of 1 BTR-82A combat vehicle belonging to the Russian peacekeeping contingent, 3 Armenian KamAZ awnings and a KamAZ vehicle with a fuel tank was recorded by Azerbaijani Army's technical surveillance means.

It was noted that these actions of the Russian peacekeeping contingent are a failure to fulfill their obligations to follow the provisions of the tripartite statement.

Similar cases have already been observed many times before. Azerbaijan learned about these illegal and covert actions, and the relevant structures of the country warned Armenia, the Russian Ministry of Defense and the leadership of the "peacekeepers" about the need to put an end to them. But, despite all this, the situation does not change.

One gets the impression that the peacekeepers need a stricter reminder of their duties and why they are on Azerbaijani lands. After all, they do not draw conclusions from the warnings of Azerbaijan.

If the Russian "peacekeepers" in Karabakh do not remember their mandate, then provocations and lawlessness will continue. But Azerbaijan, of course, cannot turn a blind eye to illegal actions. What is happening shows that the peacekeepers are not only indifferent to provocations in Karabakh, but even create ground for them.

As you know, on November 10, 2020, after the 44-day Patriotic War, following a tripartite statement signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia, a Russian peacekeeping contingent arrived in Karabakh to ensure security in the region. They are deployed there for 5 years, that is, until 2025.

And all the facts indicate that the peacekeepers have become the patrons of the Armenian terrorists and separatists in Karabakh.

Firstly, Armenian terrorists in Karabakh regularly fire on Azerbaijani positions. The Russian Ministry of Defense also sees and knows this. So why don't the "peacekeepers" provide security and take adequate and preventive measures to fulfill their mandate?! After all, they are responsible for stability.

Secondly, the tripartite statement also contains a special clause on the withdrawal of Armenian troops from Karabakh in parallel with the entry of peacekeepers into the region. But it was never implemented.

Thirdly, the illegal transportation of weapons from Armenia to Karabakh can only be explained by the destructive position of official Yerevan, an attempt to distance itself from the peaceful agenda. And the peacekeepers create conditions for the illegal transportation of weapons to Karabakh and opportunities for further provocations by Armenia. In this case, how not to question Russia's mediation efforts?

Fourth, from November 2020 to the present, 50 Azerbaijani civilians have died from mine explosions in the territories liberated from occupation, and 286 people have been injured. This is because Armenia does not provide accurate minefield maps to Azerbaijan.

But, unfortunately, the peacekeepers do not react in any way to this problem either, they ignore Armenia’s mine attacks. However, it was necessary to put pressure on the Armenians to ensure stability.

Another important issue is that the inappropriate activities of the peacekeepers also affect the atmosphere of mutual trust with Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu should take this into account.

Otherwise, official Baku will not agree to the presence of peacekeepers on its territory until 2025. The question may be raised that they leave the Azerbaijani lands sooner. Azerbaijan has every right to do so. Why does Azerbaijan need peacekeepers who create conditions for escalating the situation in its territories?!
