Russian expert: Pashinyan is just a toy in the hands of third parties

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has completely lost popularity among the people and he is making unsuccessful attempts to return it with populist statements in Khankendi, Russian experts say.

Notably, the day before, the Armenian Prime Minister visited occupied territories of Azerbaijan - Nagorno-Karabakh - to participate in "Pan-Armenian games" where he made a number of statements about Karabakh and "pan-Armenian unity."

Russian expert Yevgeny Mikhailov told Report that, hosting  the "games" in occupied Nagorno-Karabakh is the desire of the world Armenians to oppose any attempts to peacefully solve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

"Pashinyan is just a figure chosen for these purposes, and the main players are the Armenian diaspora of the West, which is lobbying its interests both in France and in the US Senate. Like it was an afterthought, information was heard in the media that, US President Donald Trump as a reprisal for purchasing Russian S-400 by Turkey recognizes the so-called "Armenian genocide". All these are links of one chain inciting a major conflict in the region before a possible American war with Iran, " Y. Mikhailov said adding that in such chaos, the it is easier for US to “find its own prey".

The expert emphasized that Nikol Pashinyan had completely lost popularity among the people, having come to power in the wake of populist promises and without doing anything. According to him, the prime minister’s trip to occupied Karabakh and the opening of the games that the world community, except for its Armenians, does not even suspect is an absurd attempt by N. Pashinyan to show the separatist regime that Armenia is still with it.

Yevgeny Mikhailov believes that N. Pashinyan, in fact, wants to seem like a “great leader” in order to strengthen his position in power.

"However, everyone perfectly understands that the twilight of Nikol Pashinyan’s career is round the corner. Armenians need a leader who does not speak, but does, does not promise, but negotiates. Pashinyan does not have such qualities and moreover, it is already pointless to see him as an adequate negotiator on Karabakh, "the Russian political scientist added.

He expressed the opinion that official Baku should systematically continue diplomatic pressure and isolate the new authorities in Yerevan.

"At the same time, fully cooperate with countries as guarantors of a peaceful settlement and, above all, with Russia and Turkey. You may not notice the Prime Minister of Armenia, he is just a toy in the hands of third forces, who do not want peace for their people, "E. Mikhailov said.

In his opinion, the absence of the topic of Armenia in the information space of Russia is due to the fact that Moscow understands clearly that Yerevan acts inappropriately and to engage in dialogue with it on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict now is futile.
