Zelenskyy calls to expand grain initiative to other ports of Ukraine

"Ukraine wants to extend the grain initiative indefinitely. For this, it is necessary to expand the grain corridor to other ports of the country," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at the Grain from Ukraine international summit

According to Zelenskyy, the grain initiative is not working at full capacity, and due to the fault of the Russian side, more than 80 ships are left on the Bosphorus.

"We favor increasing the number of ports and continuing this important initiative for an indefinite period, without Russia blocking it again," Zelenskyy said.

He noted that in order to overcome the humanitarian crisis, especially to meet the needs of countries facing hunger, Ukraine has put forward the grain initiative, and within the framework of this initiative, food products will be delivered to African and Asian countries.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine plans to send at least 60 ships with grain to Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Congo, Kenya and Nigeria by the spring of 2023.
