The World Bank is working with Azerbaijan on a new program in the agricultural sector, World Bank Country Manager for Azerbaijan Stefanie Stallmeister said on the second day of Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026), Report informs.
According to her, food security should be given particular attention among the areas identified as priorities in this regard:
"Azerbaijan, which is a regional leader in this sector, has the opportunity to go further and become a major exporter. At the same time, export markets pay attention to food security and other issues.
"Therefore, this is one of the important areas where we are working with the government to implement programs that will enable progress in this direction. We are very excited about the potential of this new program, which we hope will be further defined over the next 6-12 months.
"We see the Azerbaijani government as an incredible partner that has made numerous decisions in recent years to ensure that this sector is at the forefront of the region. We look forward to advancing this agenda."
