Turkey, Azerbaijan to expand cooperation in agricultural sector

"Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkey in the non-oil sector increased by 13% in 2020 to $ 2.4 billion. We are working to increase trade turnover between the two countries," chairman of the Turkish-Azerbaijani Business Council Selçuk Akat said at an online conference on "Digital Employment" organized by the Azerbaijani-Turkish Businessmen Association (ATBA).

He noted that new areas of cooperation had been identified to increase trade turnover: "Our goal is to create business and investment opportunities and new employment between the two countries because there are many young people in both Turkey and Azerbaijan. Every year, thousands of young people enter the labor market as university graduates. One of the topics we are working on as DEIK is to expand cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of agriculture. In the agricultural sector, both countries have significant potential."

In 2020, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkey amounted to $4.16 billion. Azerbaijan's exports to Turkey were $2.597 billion, while Turkey's imports to Azerbaijan made $1.563 billion.
