South Korea to allocate $3M for Ukrainian food initiative

South Korea will participate in the Grain from Ukraine program and allocate $3 million to purchase food for the benefit of countries in need, the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Republic of Korea said, Report informs via TASS.

The government plans to allocate $3 million in humanitarian assistance through the World Food Program to countries with food problems, within the Grain From Ukraine initiative, the ministry said.

According to the Yonhap agency, the initiative aims to supply grain from Ukraine to such countries as Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia and Yemen.

During the G20 summit, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed the Grain From Ukraine program. It provides that countries that support the initiative will directly purchase agricultural products from Ukraine, and then transfer them to countries on the verge of starvation.
