Seymur Safarli: Agricultural insurance coverage is expanding

Azerbaijan has made progress in the field of agricultural insurance, and its coverage is expanding, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Seymur Safarli said at a regional meeting on the State Program for the Development of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Aquaculture for 2026–2030, according to Report's correspondent in Bilasuvar.

"Expanding insurance coverage is one of the key objectives of the State Program. Plans are in place to increase the number of insured crops and introduce new support instruments," Safarli said.

The deputy minister also noted that Azerbaijan plans to increase its self-sufficiency rate in food wheat to 70%. Currently, this figure stands at around 55%. Under the State Program, efforts are also being made to raise yields to 50 centners per hectare, which will help achieve a self-sufficiency level of 65–70%.
