Russia receives 13.3 million eggs from Azerbaijan and Türkiye

Azerbaijan and Türkiye supplied 13.3 million eggs to Russia by February 5, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) said, Report informs via Interfax.

“From February 1 to 4, 1.5 million eggs from Azerbaijan and 633,600 eggs from Türkiye were delivered through the Yarag-Kazmalyar checkpoint for sale in Russia,” Rosselkhoznadzor said.

Amid a sharp rise in egg prices, the Russian Federation zeroed out the import duty on eggs in the first half of 2024. It is estimated that this will allow the import of 1.2 billion eggs.

According to Rosstat, in 2023, eggs in Russia increased in price by 1.6 times, including by 18.2% in December. Consumer prices began to decline in January. From January 10 to 15, eggs fell in price by 0.2%.
