Nearly 3,000 tons of nectarines exported from Azerbaijan to Russia destroyed

The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor) in Moscow city, Moscow and Tula oblasts detected infection in a batch of fruit exported from Azerbaijan at the end of August this year, Report informs, citing Rosselkhoznadzor.

According to information, 2,707 tons of infected nectarines imported from Azerbaijan were destroyed near Moscow.

During the laboratory examination, the Mediterranean fruit fly - Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann), considered a quarantine object for Russia, was found in the fruits.

The cargo owner received an official order to take action on the seized products and decided to destroy them.

Since the beginning of the season, Rosselkhoznadzor has conducted a technical inspection of more than 6,000 tons of nectarines from Azerbaijan to Moscow and carried out quarantine phytosanitary control.
