Majnun Mammadov: Climate discussions at COP29 will support agriculture

Discussions on climate change within COP29 will support the agriculture sector, Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov told journalists during a COP29 event, Report informs.

"COP29 is one of the most important events held in Azerbaijan. We hope that discussions on climate change will have a positive impact on the agricultural sector. The negative effects of climate change on agriculture are quite significant. November 19 will be marked as Agriculture, Food, and Water Day, and on that day, the impact of climate change on the agricultural sector will be discussed," the minister noted.

According to him, one of the 14 initiatives put forward by Azerbaijan within COP29 is related to the agricultural sector, and this initiative is the Baku Harmony Climate Initiative: "It is aimed at supporting farmers. We hope that this initiative will serve as an aggregator for agricultural projects implemented so far and will create a foundation for making important decisions for farmers."
