Kalin: 50M tons of grain can be transported along corridor by year-end

Up to 50 million tons of grain can be transported from Ukraine and Russia with the coordination of the grain center in Istanbul until the end of this year, Turkish Presidential Spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin said, Report informs citing TASS.

“Until the end of this year, with the coordination of the grain center in Istanbul, which will be under the supervision of the UN, from 40 to 50 million tons of grain can be transported from Russia and Ukraine to world markets,” Kalin noted. He added that 20-25 million tons of grain are stored in the warehouses of Ukraine and 25-30 - in Russia.

Kalin did not rule out extending the grain agreements. “The agreements were signed for four months, but if the parties agree, they can be automatically extended. There are enough mutual agreements,” the representative of the Turkish president said.

On July 22, a package of documents was signed in Istanbul to solve the problem of food and fertilizer supplies to world markets. Another document prescribes the mechanism for the export of grain from the Black Sea ports controlled by Ukraine.
