Farmers most vulnerable to climate change, says Azerbaijan's Agro-Credit Agency official

Agriculture, being a crucial sector of the economy, plays a significant role in ensuring food security worldwide, according to Leyla Jabbarli, Deputy Chair of the Agro-Credit and Development Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, according to Report.

However, farmers remain the most vulnerable category when it comes to the challenges posed by climate change, she said.

Speaking on the second day of the Baku Climate Action Week, Jabbarli noted that the COP29 chairmanship has put forward 14 initiatives aimed at drawing public attention to accelerating climate action, with the Baku Initiative on Climate Finance, Investment, and Trade being one of them.

"This initiative reflects our shared vision - to ensure that the voices of the most vulnerable segments of the population, particularly farmers, are heard and supported," Jabbarli stated. She stressed that the initiative would provide long-term sustainability and food security.
