FAO representative completes her diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan

The term of diplomatic activity of Melek Cakmak, the Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN to Azerbaijan, has ended, Report informs, citing the FAO's Representative Office in Azerbaijan.

"Today is my last day as FAO representative in Azerbaijan. Of course, when I started this diplomatic activity, I was aware that one day I would have to finish my work duly. I am leaving Azerbaijan today with amazing memories. During my activity, we cooperated with Azerbaijan not only in agriculture but also in education, environment, climate change, employment, and gender equality, increasing young people's activity, and we made contributions in many other fields. I am very proud to live and work here and witness the remarkable days of the history of Azerbaijan," she said in a statement.

"Within the framework of our projects, I had the honor of visiting the four corners of Azerbaijan, getting to know the country's rich traditions and history, and meeting its farmers. All these will be remembered as wonderful memories of my time in Azerbaijan. The hospitality and generosity of the Azerbaijani people will be among my best memories. During the pandemic, each of us faced difficulties, and I thank the Azerbaijani people for their hospitable and friendly attitude during this period. During these years, I was pleased to meet many farmers, particularly women farmers, who contributed to the activities of FAO Azerbaijan. I am delighted that the development of agriculture is in the hands of these energetic and hardworking people," she stressed.
