The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is ready to start implementing new projects in Azerbaijan, Muhammad Nasar Hayat, the representative of FAO in Azerbaijan, Report informs.
"Azerbaijan has successfully implemented the project Improvement of National Food Safety Systems and Regional Cooperation. This project will eliminate difficulties in the field of food control. This tool is used in a number of countries. Food safety systems play an important role in the development of health and agriculture," he noted.
Today, the final event on the concept of the evaluation tool of the food control system in Azerbaijan was held in Baku. On the first day of the event, a technical meeting on the results of the Food Control System Assessment using the FAO and World Health Organization (WHO) tools was held. Priority areas and strategic measures for the food control system were determined at the meeting.
As a result of the assessment conducted in Azerbaijan on the Food Control System Assessment Tool, it was found that 25 competencies of the ideal systems defined by FAO and WHO for the food safety system in the country are taken into account and are operational.
This shows the compliance of the food safety system with the standards and requirements set by international organizations. The international experts involved in the project, based on the results obtained in the evaluation process, said that great achievements have been made in the food safety system in Azerbaijan.
