FAO announces priority areas in Azerbaijan

Priority areas in the cooperation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with Azerbaijan include increasing productivity in agriculture, sustainable use of land and water resources, reducing the effects of climate change, and rehabilitation of degraded lands, Bariz Mehdiyev, Deputy Representative of FAO in Azerbaijan, told Report.

According to him, negotiations regarding the new phase of FAO's partnership program with Azerbaijan are ongoing: "Both sides are interested in this cooperation, and the initial priorities for the second phase of cooperation are discussed. We hope that an agreement on priorities for the next phase will be reached soon. After that agreement is reached, we will be able to ensure the sustainable development of agriculture in all regions based on new realities and priorities, together with the government of Azerbaijan. We hope that the second phase will lead to longer-term and more substantial projects with better results."
