Azerbaijan's Agrargo LLC to sign agreement with FAO on hazelnut growing 

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Agrarco LLC will sign a cooperation agreement, Report informs, citing the FAO Representation Office in Azerbaijan.

FAO and Agrarco LLC will sign an Executive Agreement on cooperation and coordination of activities within the project entitled "Catalyzing the efficiency and sustainability of Azerbaijan's hazelnut sector" (HAZER).

The project studies the approach to obtaining sustainable bioenergy in hazelnuts along the value chain and the causes of aflatoxin during production and processing. Within the framework of the cooperation, activities are planned to apply best practices in these processes and increase the capacity of farmers engaged in this field.

According to the cooperation agreement, farmers participating in the hazelnut production process will be involved in various activities on applying the best practices. Agrarco LLC will provide the existing gardens and equipment for the initial training of farmers.

Under the agreement, the parties will also participate in assessing farmers' potential for sustainable bioenergy options in the value chain of hazelnuts, sustainable hazelnut product management, post-harvest work, processing, and safety.
