Association chairman: Azerbaijan lost one of main persimmon export markets

Due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, supplies of persimmons from Azerbaijan to Ukraine, which is one of the main export markets for persimmons, have practically ceased, Head of the Azerbaijan Persimmon Producers and Exporters Association Gadir Yusifov told Report.

He noted that the two countries that have the main share in the persimmon export market are Russia and Ukraine: “Azerbaijan annually exported 25,000-30,000 tons of persimmon to Ukraine. However, due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, we can say that we lost the Ukrainian market.”

In 2021, Azerbaijan exported 174,158 tons of persimmons for $125.895 million. This is 124 tons (0.09%) more in quantity and $34.309 million (37.4%) in value terms compared to the corresponding period of 2020.

For the eight months of this year, Azerbaijan exported 39,075 tons of persimmons for $29.669 million.
