Aghdam to become Karabakh economic hub, population to reach 21,000 by year-end

Aghdam will become one of the centers of economic power in Karabakh, and the district's population will reach 21,000 by the end of this year, Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavand districts, said during a panel discussion at the 100th anniversary Agricultural Business Festival, Report informs.

According to him, in the past, Aghdam district had more than 21,000 hectares of vineyards, accounting for 28% of all grape plantations in the republic.

He expressed confidence that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Aghdam will regain its former glory, significant projects will be implemented, and the district will become one of the centers of economic power in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur.

Huseynov also noted that by the end of the current year, the population of Agdam district is expected to reach 21,000 people.

"Today, more than 3,000 people live in the city of Agdam, and in the district as a whole, including three villages, over 8,000 people reside. The resettlement process will continue. Everyone knows how attached the people of Aghdam are to their native land," he said.

The special representative emphasized that the residents of Agdam are capable of restoring and reviving this fertile land, and the state, for its part, is doing everything necessary to support them.
