Azerbaijani becomes world's first to invent device for effective water management

The world's first mobile water meter has been invented in Azerbaijan. The author of the device named 'Sugovushan' is Elvin Abbasov.

Elvin told Report about his invention, which will provide more rational water use in irrigation channels.

"Our main goal is to create conditions for effective irrigation water use. The invention was named in honor of the Sugovushan settlement liberated by the Azerbaijani army during the Second Karabakh War and representing great importance in irrigation and electric power generation.

The device will simplify the work of the Azerbaijan Department of Land Reclamation and Water Management, the authorized body in land reclamation and irrigation. Until now, there have been difficulties with the sale of water to the Water Users Unions. The calculation of the required volumes took hours and even days. The innovative invention will allow a new approach to be applied. With this mobile device, you can access all information about the irrigation canal in just 2 minutes. The device has three sensors. One of them creates a 3D model by measuring the depth and cross-section of the channel. The other two sensors measure the speed of the water. As a result, it calculates the velocity through the cross-section and generally counts how much water has passed through that canal in a given amount of time. All device data will be reflected in the mobile application, which is located on the mobile phone of the person who controls it online."

The inventor said that this is the fourth device he invented, and its use is most effective in small channels: "The device also allows you to measure the temperature of the water in the channels."
