Azerbaijan starts exporting sturgeon to Turkmenistan

In 2023, Azerbaijan imported 2,456 tons (48% more YoY) of frozen sturgeon for $4.1 million (43% more YoY), Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistics Committee.
Azerbaijan imported sturgeon from Russia, Poland, Kazakhstan, Italy, China and other countries.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported 633 tons (+45%) of sturgeon worth $1.4 million (+49%).
During this period, Azerbaijan exported 474.98 tons (+9%) of sturgeon worth $1.28 million (+38%) to Russia, and 158 tons worth $104,630 to Turkmenistan.
In 2023, supplies to Turkmenistan were made for the first time after a 13-year break.
